News Update: Analysts Offer Sales Estimates for Apple Inc’s iPhone 4: 1.5 Million at Launch

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 4s sold 1.5 million units, according to Oppenheimer & Co. senior analyst for applied technology and executive director Yair Reiner, who took a shot at calculating sales from Thursday’s launch, though the official number is not yet certain. To get the estimate, social media site Mashable.com reports that Reiner did the math using the 600000 iPhone 4 pre-orders and estimated that 100000 additional units were sold at Apple stores, along with 50000 sold at Best Buy Co. (NYSE:BBY). Reiner then multiplied the added number by two to account for international sales. Piper Jaffray Co. (NYSE:PJC) analyst Gene Munster, however thinks that Apple iPhone sales will range from 1 million and 1.5 million in the first three days, including pre-orders. Both analysts surveyed iPhone customers Thursday to arrive at their estimates, but will just have to wait for the official numbers to be tabulated. Shares of Apple are trading down 0.54% Friday afternoon at 7.54.

Apple filed a lawsuit today against mobile devices maker HTC. The suit claims infringement of 20 patents related to there iPhone’s user interface, underlying architecture, and hardware.

In the release, Steve Jobs says, “We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We’ve decided to do something about it…We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours.”

 

 

Taiwan-based HTC was the first company to manufacture a cell phone based on Google’s Android operating system, which has emerged as a top competitor to the apple iPhone, AP reports. HTC is also making the Nexus One smart phone that Google is selling right to consumers.

 

Looks like the Nexus One, and other HTC phones, got to close for comfort for  apples Steve Jobs.

 

Earlier, we thought  that Apple’s multi-touch user interface could be the reason for the suit. But after looking at the complaint, it seams  that Apple is NOT suing over multitouch, but rather a lot of other softwareTechnology. (When Steve Jobs revealed the iPhone, he touted its multitouch screen, then said, “And boy, have we patented it.”)

Also, Apple is  tied up in another patent lawsuit with Nokia, saying Nokia is stealing Apple technology to. Nokia says Apple is stealing its technology. Kodak is also suing Apple claiming technology theft.

This iPhone review will covers all aspects related to the phone. This phone is called a smart phone and for good reason. It’s like the epitome of 21st century technology. It’s literally like a miniature computer. People think the new Macbook Air is so cool because it’s thin like an envelope, well, the iPhone is the same thing but it can fit in your pocket.

IPhone Display Review

Let’s start with a review of the iPhone’s design. The phone has an extremely sharp and slick look. It has a trim profile and it doesn’t have a million buttons because of the touch-screen. It’s 4.5 inches tall by 2.4 inches wide and it’s a mere 0.46 inches deep. It can comfortably fit in your pocket and you won’t even feel it.

IPhone Review of Display & Menus

The display definitely takes full advantage of the phone’s large screen. The screen’s resolution is 480×320 pixels and the graphics look vivid and sharp and have great movement. The iPhone menu is a great one because it follows the true Apple style.

The interface looks high-tech but it is easy to understand. The main menu uses colored buttons to represent the main functions of the phone. Icons for the phone menu, mail folder, Safari Web Browser, and the iPod player sit at the bottom of the screen for instant access. The camera, calendar, and settings are at the top.

IPhone Fun Feature Review

The iPhone has a built in wireless internet connection. Now, laptops have wireless internet but you need to have a network somewhere around you for it to work. Not with this!  You can literally be driving in the middle of no where and have an internet connection because it is built in the phone. That’s amazing technology. You can be waiting at the doctor’s office and surf the net to kill some time.

Perhaps the best part about the iPhone is the Google maps option. If you’re lost, you can type in the address that you’re going to or the name of the business and it will give you directions. It is not a GPS system that locates where you are but it does tell you where you need to go.

This iPhone review gives the iPhone an A+. The iPhone is slick and easy to use. It even has touch-screen technology. Plus, they’re constantly coming up with add-ons to make it just a little bit better. It’s expensive, but it’s worth it.
