Do you find technology like the iPhone useful?

Question by Cycling Magician: Do you find technology like the iPhone useful?
Some things are filled with so many widgets, it could be unnecessary. But yea, are these high tech gadgets useful? or is it just to have?

Personally I find a phone a phone. If it dials in and out, i’d be happy with it. If it has internet and surfs the web, it’ll be a nice bonus but it’s not necessary. I normally just call, text, and occasionally surf the web on my phone for answers.
However, every week, I get urged to upgrade my Alias 2 phone to something like the iPhone. Is it even that useful?

Not really no, after buying so many of these gadgets over the years, I found most ended up in some draw unused, until they were obsolete. But thats just me. The most useful development in consumer tech, I think, is satnav ( which I understand the iphone has). Other than that, all these things we got along fine without before. I had to laugh somewhat cruely at some of the charges for using iphone apps abroad recently – users topping up thousands in debt without even realizing or understanding charges.

  1. Its a fun little gadget buy personally I think it’s overrated. I have an iPhone and it’s pretty expensive with the data plan. I do use it for the Internet a lot since my laptops broken but it has no flash player so it’s a little pointless for some websites. The apps on it are fun but some times they feel a bit monotonous. You can use it as an iPod too which is cool. My first iPhone got water logged and just cost me $200 to replace even though I had an apple care plan on it. You can only get iPhones serviced at the pain in the neck apple store where you have to make an appointment at the genius bar to get someone to look at it. I guess when it comes down to it, it’s nice but so not worth the money. I would stick with the phone you have if that makes you happy.
